Our Farm Information

Brief farm description

We offer beef and eggs here at Persimmon Grove Farm.  We are a growing business, or shall we say, a grass growing business.  The grass is grown naturally and is harvested by our herd of Dexter cattle and a small flock of chickens.  The cows and chickens are allowed to graze full time and are hormone and antibiotic free.  The grass is grown naturally with no chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.  This agricultural system has been chosed because we at Persimmon Grove want to supply what we feel is a healthier alternative to feedlot beef and commercial  egg production.

Dexters are very efficient grazers who produce a lean nicely textured beef that has proven itself in taste tests tiime and time again.  They are a small framed cow and the meat cuts are a more recommended portion size.

The breeds of chickens currently at the farm are Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rock and Delawares.  Pasture eggs have thick shells and brightly colored yolks.  They are flavorful and filling.
